About Roohari

Roohari is a Brazilian saxophonist, guitarist and composer based in Italy. Through the touching notes of his sax, the colorful sounds of his guitar and piercing moments of silence, Roohari aim to take his listeners to moments of relaxation, surprise and deep connection with themselves.

His musical roots began to be shaped in his childhood, influenced by the Brazilian music and jazz records that his parents listened to at home. Son of a luthier, he also grew up listening to his father playing the guitar, which generated a deep connection with the music of his country and encouraged him to begin his studies.

In his 15-year career, he has played with several Brazilian artists such as Cauby Peixoto, Toquinho, Rosa Passos, Raul de Souza; as well as Brazilian jazz groups from São Paulo such as Soundscape Big Band and Nenê Kinteto, with whom he has recorded an album.

His deep contact with meditation since 2018 has completely changed his life, including his approach as an improvising musician, composer and educator.

After discovering and absorbing elements of Indian music, mantras and artists who explore the use of silence as a fundamental element of their music (such as Jan Garbarek, Charlie Haden, Ralph Towner, Prem Joshua, Ben Leinbach, etc.), Roohari not only migrated to making music that touches deep cores of the soul but also came out as a guitarist, bringing to light his Brazilian roots through the particularity of his country music's harmony.
